John Neighbour has been with HB Accountants for many years.
Having worked as a tax manager at a top ten accountancy for a number of years, John
joined HB Accountants in 1976 and has headed up the firm’s growing tax department
ever since.
Contributing a wealth of knowledge and experience of all aspects of taxation in
the UK, John is able to assist you with all your tax requirements.
He has particular expertise in dealing with trusts.
John is very involved in the local community and is a former President of the Rotary
Club of Hoddesdon. He has acted as treasurer for a number of other local organizations.
Extensively qualified, John is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants
in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants
(ACCA), as well as an associate of the Chartered Tax Institute (CTA)

John Clarke is the Business Development Partner at HB Accountants.
Having been at the practice since he was 19 (he started as the tea boy), John specialises
in business development.
Within the practice John’s key role is advising commercial clients on strategies
to help their businesses grow. Typically, this can include helping business owners
to systemise their business processes and improve communication.
John has considerable experience of working with a wide range of business clients,
in a variety of industries
John won an award for ‘Best Business Development Team in the UK.’
John is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales
(ICAEW). He enjoys cooking, wine, juggling and magic, often all at the same time.

Brian Claxton

Brian Claxton joined HB Accountants in 1977 after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant
in 1975.
As the managing partner he is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the business,
such as planning and work allocation and ensuring the practice operates as effectively
and efficiently as possible.
In addition, with a wealth of experience, he is able to assist you with a variety
of matters such as audit, management accounting, company secretarial and general
accounting issues.
His particular areas of expertise include corporate finance and charity administration.
Brian is currently acting as Clerk to the Trustees of the Rotherhithe Consolidated
Charities, which boasts funds totalling £4 million, as well being Hon Treasurer
and a Liveryman of The Worshipful Company of Gardeners in London.
Brian is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales
(ICAEW).

experience to his position as the operations director of HB Accountants.

Enza Acquisto is a manager at HB Accountants, working in the audit and accounts
department.
Having been at the firm since leaving school, she boasts a vast and varied knowledge
of the accountancy sector.
Her particular areas of expertise are audit, accounts, management accounts and corporate
tax. She is also extremely adept at advising clients on a variety of financial issues
such as bookkeeping, VAT and Sage training.

Karen Risley joined HB Accountants after University and has since become an important
part of the team.
Working as an Audit and Accounts Manager, she is responsible for overseeing a large
majority of all client audit work, as well as assisting with the full range of management

clients.
A dedicated team member, Karen often uses her extensive experience and expertise
to assist the less experienced team members with their work.

Catherine Horsey is a dedicated member of the HB Accountants’ team, working as a
trainee accountant within the firm’s audit and accounts department serving the full
range of clients.
While Catherine predominantly works on the majority of the firm’s larger audits,
she also takes an active part in team training and acts as the first port of call
for less experienced team members who require assistance with their audit work.
She has particular experience of assisting more specialist clients with their audit
work, such as FSA regulated clients and clients in the hospitality and recruitment
industries.
Catherine is a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).

Trainee accountant Barrie Chase is a hard working member of the HB Accountants’
team, working in the audit and accounts department.
Barrie is mainly involved in working on the firm’s larger audits and completing
a variety of smaller businesses’ accounts
Extremely conscientious and highly motivated, Barrie helps us to provide an excellent
level of service to clients.
Barrie is currently studying for his AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians)

A hugely experienced payroll professional, Elizabeth Maidment joined HB Accountants
in 2003.
With over 30 years working in the accounts and payroll industry, Elizabeth contributes
a wealth of knowledge to her position as the Payroll Manager.
In addition, her areas of expertise extend to include credit control, book keeping,
budget management and personnel administration.
Elizabeth has enjoyed a varied career in the finance field including 13 years working
as a bursar for a large school and over ten years performing a variety of banking
duties for a major national bank, including payroll, foreign exchange, forward contracts
and safe custody.
Elizabeth possesses an Advanced Professional Diploma in Management for Bursars (APDM)
and a part-qualification with the Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIOBS).

Vince joined HB Accountants in September 2007 as a trainee accountant.
He comes to the firm with a degree in accounting with economics from the University
of Essex. He is training for qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants
in England and Wales (ICAEW).
Vince’s role will involve working on large team audits, alongside colleagues Catherine
Horsey and Barrie Chase. He will also be preparing accounts for smaller clients.
