As well as supporting the community, we also aim to make HB Accountants a great place to be and somewhere clients feel comfortable to spend time. Summer outings, team building and special birthday celebrations all matter to us.

John Neighbour- Director

John Neighbour – Director

Much of my working life is spent trying to ensure that my clients pay no more than the correct amount of tax. This involves planning to ensure that their affairs are organised tax-efficiently, whilst ensuring that they stay within the law. I get great satisfaction when I can achieve those objectives and also from reassuring clients who are worried about communications they receive from “the taxman”!

There’s a lot of variety in the nature of the work that I do and the type of clients that I deal with – each day is different and has its challenges. Although I work hard, there is not a long-hours culture, which helps me to achieve a good work-life balance. And my colleagues are nice people to work with. There is also the work involved in developing the practice. This involves building strong relationships with clients and contacts, getting new clients and working with the HB team, all of which I enjoy.

Karen Chase - Director

I primarily deal with the audits and accounts services at HB and look after our team of qualified and trainee accountants. I have been with HB since university and I love everything about my role. I especially enjoy having been able to help our clients grow over the years and being able to always offer them the fantastic service and support that myself and all at HB provide.

Colin Wilkinson - Manager

I pride myself on providing the best service possible to my clients. Whether problem solving, or performing compliance work, dealing with a wide range of clients in a wide range of business sectors certainly means that there is never a dull moment. I always knew that passing my cycling proficiency test would prove vital to my career in accountancy.

Karen Robbins - Manager

I am responsible for the preparation of management accounts and financial statements for a wide and varied range of clients. I also get involved with preparing corporate and personal tax returns. I enjoy building up long-lasting relationships with my clients and like to ensure I give them the best possible service. I like the variety my role provides.

Catherine Hill - Manager

Catherine Hill – Manager

Working alongside Karen Chase & I deal with the audit and accounts. Whilst carrying out audits with all of my clients, I try to help them improve their controls and make recommendations on how their company can improve their processes. I enjoy working with all my clients each year and trying to add value to a service that so many companies view as ‘it has to be done’.

Barrie Chase - Manager

I am involved in dealing with the audits of our clients as well as preparing management accounts and annual accounts. I enjoy building relationships with all of my clients and ensuring I can provide the best service possible to them.

Amy Armitage – Tax Manager

Amy Armitage – Tax Manager

I work alongside John Neighbour to manage the Tax Department at HB Accountants and am CTA qualified. I started to take a keen interest in tax while studying towards achieving my law degree from the University of Reading, since graduating I have worked in finance and tax roles and enjoy the challenging work environment a career in tax offers. We offer a wide range of tax services here at HB Accountants including: Tax Compliance, Tax Dispute and Tax Advisory services, meaning my day to day working life is diverse and interesting. I especially enjoy assisting our clients from start to finish with advisory projects to ensure that their tax affairs are organised in the most efficient manner possible.

Vicki Foster – Office & Marketing Manager​

Vicki Foster – Office & Marketing Manager

I’m the newest member of the team here at HB Accountants and help to keep our office super-efficient. I organise our fabulous Ladies Lunches and get involved in lots of other Networking Events, Exhibitions and of course the HB Accountants fundraising for local Hertfordshire Charities plus I look after the Social Media side of the business too. I thoroughly enjoy the networking side of my role and look forward to meeting you soon!

Jane Dunn – Payroll Manager​

My role is to primarily provide a payroll service for our clients. This is my first experience of working with clients and I must say, I am enjoying it very much. Being able to provide a reliable service and ensuring that our clients remain compliant with HMRC is important to me.

Bradley Hearn – Trainee Accountant

I am currently studying ACA at HB Accountants. On a day to day basis I am involved with client audits and the preparation of accounts. I thoroughly enjoy being part of the audit team and visiting clients on-site. I look forward to progressing my training and working towards my ACA qualification.

Callum Morgan - Trainee Accountant

Having always enjoyed working with numbers I decided to pursue a career in Accountancy. I joined HB Accountants in June 2018 & am currently studying my AAT Level 3 - I enjoy supporting colleagues on audit & accounts projects, which varies client to client. I look forward to meeting you soon.

Abby Debnam – Trainee Accountant

Abby Debnam – Trainee Accountant

I joined Team HB in September 2018 and have thoroughly enjoyed working here ever since. I am qualified AAT level 2 and am looking forward to studying for level 3. I work in audit and accounts both in and out of the office. Taking part in charity and community events is another aspect to HB and I am proud to be able to do my part in supporting our chosen charity Teens Unite, and the local Hertfordshire area.
